Steve
Previous bands: “Twilight Express”, “Essence”, “Spectacle”, “Impulse”, “BSN”, “The Berries”, “The Barry Adams Band”, “Scoundrel”, “Stride”, “Restless Knights”, “Barncats” 2010-present.
Musical influences. Mel Schacher, Mark Farner, Deep Purple, Rick James, Funk music in general. Chuck Kellogg and Wes Colgan were local “tonal” influences for me.
Favorite artists. Grand Funk Railroad, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Rascall Flatts,
Favorite song of all time. “Over the Rainbow” by Eva Cassidy
Hobbies when not playing music. Golf, putzing around in the barn, spending time
with my wife
How old when you started playing music. Sixth grade…..clarinet!
How old when you got in your first band. Started playing guitar in Jr. High School,
first “band” probably in ninth grade.
How many instruments you play. Guitar, bass guitar, keys.
Songs you specifically won’t play. “Cocaine”.
Do you write music? Dabbled with it in the past, wrote more lyrics than music.
Have you published any music? Nope.
Most memorable performance. Wow, way too many to call one a favorite. Lots of stories and memories!
Largest crowd you’ve played for. Would have been Lapeer Days just prior to Tommy James & the Shondells. I remember the police estimating thousands of people, just don’t remember how many thousands they said. The 80’s were tough on me.
Favorite musician you’ve played with. Bob Severt. I played with him in a couple of different bands. He was a great singer…and he played a great guitar too. We had a blast playing music! Sadly, he died suddenly and unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm a little over two years ago.
Most famous musician you’ve ever played with. No one famous beyond “locally famous”.
How many instruments do you own? Right now I'm down to just my Parker Fly, Fender Strat, Korg Nautilus, Korg Krome, Squire Jazz IV, Line 6 Variax, Epiphone SG, Epiphone Casino guitar.....plus a banjo and violin that I don’t know how to play.
How many have you had over the years? The 80’s were tough on me…..I have no idea how many guitars I have owned, but LOTS.
Favorite instrument you wish you wouldn’t have sold. I had an old Silvertone hollow-body electric that I sold around 2000 because it was just sitting in its case in a closet. Dumb. Even though I rarely ever played it, someday it will be worth way more than I sold it for. It was sorta like a Gibson 335, Bob called it my “Desoto” because it had three pick-ups and a big ‘ol Bigsby Tremelo.

Ken was our original Barncats drummer and has just come back on board with us! We are super excited to get back out playing with Ken. He's a great drummer and singer!!
Chris
Chris grew up in Florida and moved to Michigan in 2003. He began his musical journey playing drums, but quickly moved to bass guitar. We are glad he did! Chris lays down a solid bottom to our music and he is a great guy and singer as well.
